Beloved GSA Network!

Spring is an invitation to get familiar with new beginnings and allow our bodies to open up to the blessings of a warmer season. Celebrate yourself for making it through a tough winter filled with challenges and transformation. Give yourself time to unravel and shed those winter layers. Listen to the quiet voice within you that tells you to continue.

Spring shows us how to bloom, because of the rain. Legislators across the country are actively targeting TQ2S+ youth in order to disenfranchise and limit our autonomy. Even the legislators who hesitate to defend trans and queer young people enable harmful strategies to scatter. It is important for all young people to embolden themselves in their truth. How can we guard our spirits? How can we survive being told we do not exist? 

Be shamelessly and boldly trans. queer. Two Spirit.

And remember that you are part of something big.

GSAs Unite!

It is time to gather, support, and act together toward justice! Spring is a time for recognizing people power and our impact. May Day is an annual holiday that recognizes working people of the world. Historically inside the lineage of worker rights, youth are consistently invisibilized as a part of working class battles to establish fair, humane legislation for workers everywhere. Youth of all genders and sexualities have a responsibility to contribute to our communities as community members. When the rights of young people are infringed upon at school, home, or in community, we are enabling disconnection and fracturing our livelihoods and future.

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. Like the Mexican proverb reminds us, “They tried to bury us, but they didn’t know we were seeds.” GSAs rooted in justice fight for economic justice in our schools, communities, and country broadly. We are the ones we’ve wished and prayed for. GSA members, who are poor or working class, depend on their allies at school to advocate for equitable resources, fair wages and conditions for them and their families and enable each other to live in dignity. We, at GSA Network, are joining the call to support May Day by agreeing to “No School! No Work! No Shopping!” GSAs have been marching alongside other movements and organizing their local communities into action. We join the calls for no school, no work and no shopping and support every student who participates in the WALKOUT. In line with May Day, consider joining a local rally, create an art build, or support International Worker’s Day in creative collaborative ways.
